Washington, D.C. — Approximately 170 frontline physicians and advanced practice nurses at Unity Health Care, Washington D.C.’s largest nonprofit and social services organization, have won their right to unionize with the Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD).
“This victory empowers Unity’s providers who work at community health centers and the D.C. jail facilities to stand together as a collective unit to advocate for their needs in the workplace, as well as the needs of community members and the incarcerated population,” said Dr. Stuart Bussey, UAPD President.
Pending certification of the election results by the National Labor Relations Board, the UAPD looks forward to working with the providers and management at Unity Health Care in contract negotiations.
