UAPD members have overwhelmingly voted to authorize a strike. The strike vote passed with 91% approval. This vote comes as bargaining with the State has stalled for the past two weeks. The Union and the State remain far apart on wages and the State has not responded to many of the Union’s important proposals, such as on-call pay and telework. The Union continues to hold on the proposal to increase compensation for all BU16 classifications. Bargaining is set to resume again next week.
As a result of the Union’s strike vote, the State has retaliated against our members by withholding CME payments that were due to be paid on July 1st. The Union has filed a grievance to force payments to our members.
Union representatives will have regional meetings with members to plan next steps in the strike process.
