Looming UB resident doctor strike could ’cause operational headaches’ for Buffalo hospitals, clinics

The clock is ticking.

And if an agreement can’t be reached over the next couple of days, nearly every hospital in Western New York will be affected in some way when more than 800 resident doctors and fellows go on strike for four days, starting early Tuesday morning.

If an 11th-hour deal can be brokered, it may come during a bargaining session Sunday between the Union of American Physicians and Dentists, which represents the 829 medical residents and fellows in University at Buffalo programs, and the employer of the physicians-in-training: University Medical Resident Services.
