UAPD Secures New Three-Year Contract with the UC System

The Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD) bargaining team has secured a significant victory for our physicians at the University of California (UC) Student Health Services. After several months of bargaining, a tentative agreement was reached for a new three-year contract, effective July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2027. The agreement was overwhelmingly approved by UAPD members.

The ratified contract delivers substantial wage increases for career, non-probationary employees. Members can expect a 6% raise in the first year, followed by 5% increases in the second and third years. Per-diem employees will also see a boost in their compensation, with annual increases of 5%, 4%, and 4%.

In addition to the salary improvements, physicians will receive a one-time ratification bonus of 1.5%.

The new contract also prioritizes pay equity within the UC system. The employer has agreed to conduct a yearly review of pay practices across campuses. This review will address issues such as gender-based pay discrepancies and ensure that new hires are not compensated more than existing employees with comparable experience and qualifications.

This successful negotiation secures financial stability and recognizes the valuable contributions of physicians in the UC system.
