UAPD Statement on Medical School and College Campus Unrest

In light of recently reported hate inspired activities at UCLA Medical School, the Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD) recommends the following actions:

  • UAPD condemns any medical school curriculum that identifies and marginalizes any religious entity.
  • UAPD requests that all medical schools ensure that their teaching is free of any bias and is based upon scientific principles.
  • UAPD further requests that all appropriate credentialing organizations, such as the Medical Board of California, all other professional licensing boards, postgraduate education boards, and the Regents of the University of California evaluate and recommend changes that will eliminate bias from their teaching and admissions programs at California’s university medical schools.

UAPD further condemns any activity, verbal or physical behaviour intended to intimidate students of particular religious persuasions. All students have the right to pursue their studies without intimidation. UAPD urges college administrators to act to protect the rights of all students on campus. Colleges should not become instruments of terrorist organizations.
